At some point I will try to set down what I know. Virtually all of it
comes from talking with Aunt Ada in the years before she died, and with
Jimmy. I also corresponded with Aunty Bess's daughter, Florence, shortly
before she died, and she sent me a letter with some information. Were you
aware that Benjamin Sears was married before he married the mother of Mary
Emma Sears, our great-grandmother? (or so I was told) Doing a little
noodling on the Internet I discovered that there's a whole society of the
Sears family and numerous references to Bloomfield, New York, which I think
is near Newburgh, and to the Coddington's -- our great-great grandfather
was William Coddington Brewster -- so I suspect that they're all tied
together somehow -- and the Sears line appears to go back to the Mayflower
also. This is interesting stuff, but boy it is time-consuming.
