"Jourdan is a French name whose lineage is traced back to the Huguenots (French Protestants. The Huguenots were driven out of France after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685. The Edict of Nantes had been in force since 1598. After 1685, thousands of Huguenots sought refuge in other counties including Germany, Holland, England and the United States to name but a few.
Ozce Jourdan sought refuge in the German Palatinate. He was married (unknown whether in France or Germany) and had one son (there were probably other children as well). This son was Jean (John) Jourdan.
